She Works for Peace is a non-profit organization helping women in conflict areas rebuild their families and communities through employment, education and participation opportunities.
Believing that every woman should have access to equal opportunities to fulfill her dreams and aspirations – even in the most challenging of contexts – we built a model that links women’s empowerment with community development and peacebuilding.
Currently, we work with women in Afghanistan and Ukraine.

Acid and burns attacks are an increasingly frequent phenomenon that appens mainly inside households. The consequences are severe: victims suffer physical and mental suffering, life scars and in some cases death. With no adequate access to justice, medical and psychological assistance, many survivors suffer from post-traumatic stress, deep depression, and suicidal behaviors. They are often condemned to economic and social ostracism.
ActionAid through a holistic approach aims to promote the rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors by addressing the root causes of the problem and promoting a socio-economic reintegration of survivors. The action areas of the project are various:
- Improve the medical care through the training of specialized personnel and the provision of adequate medical equipment;
- Provide legal assistance and support for professional and social reintegration of survivors;
- Improve the rehabilitation of survivors through psychosocial counseling and physiotherapy courses;
- Raise awareness among civil society about the seriousness of violence against women and combat the stigmatization of victims.
